I’d like to propose a new leaderboard feature and see how the community feels about it.
Currently, leaderboards focus on individual operators, such as the ham with the most QSOs in a given country (USA, Canada, UK, etc.).
The idea is to add leaderboards that compare locations rather than individuals. For example, U.S. States vs. U.S. States: ranking states by total QSO activity & Countries vs. Countries: ranking countries by total QSO activity.
This would highlight overall on-air activity by QTH and could encourage friendly competition between states and countries. It might also motivate more operators to get on the air to help boost their local or national ranking.
I think this kind of leaderboard could add a fun, community-driven incentive and provide interesting insights into global and regional activity levels.
We currently basically have this already. If you go to the leaderboards page and then scroll down to the map of the US and click on the state it will take you to the state leaderboard.
The state leaderboard shows the leaderboard for individuals in that state. What I am referring to is different. I’m describing total QSO by state or country and ranked by state or country as a whole.
So for example:
| Rank | State | # QSO |
|———|————| ————|
| 1 | NC | 500k |
| 2 | FL | 452k |
| 3 | CA | 498k |
The same idea with countries as well.
The landing page sort of does this already except it only shows country/state with the most QSO for that specific day without ranking, unless I’m clicking in the wrong place.
I’m agnostic about it. It is nice to see that kind of stuff but it isnt something that I really chase after. Who knows I might. Maybe have it reset every day but also keep track for the month. IDK might be cool.
When WRL starts getting more traction I wouldn’t be surprised if clubs in states/countries start org events to try to top the rankings as a collective. More folks on the air is a win for everyone.
