Logging QSO with poor cell phone service [WORKING CORRECTLY]

Hello all! I was activating a park and only had 1 bar of cell phone service. My software only logged 14 contacts and I know for certain I had almost double that many logged QSO’s. Is there on offline setting I can toggle on to capture the QSO’s when I know poor or no cell service? It’s a bummer that happened today and very frustrating.

Hi @KD9ZAB so sorry about this, I know it’s frustrating! Let me see what we can do to try to help recover those QSOs.

We have a permanent fix in progress, but today, our app works really well if 1) you are completely offline or 2) you have service.

When you have spotty service and go on and offline, the app gets a bit “confused” between online and offline mode and tries to write contacts to the online database.

This is 100% our fault and we should have the permanent fix ready soon!

In the meantime we’ll see if there is anything we can do to recover those contacts.

If you are in a spotty connection and you turn your phone to airplane mode, it will prevent the issue as a workaround.

We will keep you posted :folded_hands:

Thank you! Makes sense to go to airplane mode.

@KD9ZAB Unfortunately after digging into this and exhausting all resources we are unable to restore those lost contacts. Please accept our deepest apologies. We have a gift coming for you for the trouble.

Additionally we are in the process of making significant changes to the mobile app to make it completely ‘offline-first’ so this will no longer be an issue. Those changes should be released VERY soon.

Thanks & 73

Brad, it’s not the end of the world and thanks for trying and getting back to me.

@KD9ZAB of course!! we’ll make it right

@KD9ZAB our latest app release has now COMPLETELY resolved this issue!

With the new release, contacts will ALWAYS be logged to the offline database first, and then synced to the cloud when you have service.

Even if you go in and out of service, you will never drop a contact and will have 100% reliability.

Plus we added a UI so you can keep track of the offline contacts pending to sync.

Make sure to update your app and thank you so much for the feedback and patience! :folded_hands:
