Mobile App Offline Support [IMPLEMENTED]

Offline, the app works great. Online, the app works great. The in between I’ve been having trouble with low/slow/intermittent internet. First I was connected to an local wifi with no internet access, and the app logged me out and I was unable to log back in due to not having reliable internet. I think I read this was patched in an update this week when I searched the topic.

However I just got back from a POTA activation in the woods, where I would occasionally get cell service. There were minor inconveniences of logs showing up and disappearing, probably as they synced, however it was a bit of an ordeal when an update was pushed overnight, and the app bricked itself when I randomly got 1 bar of 4g for a minute. I had to put the phone in airplane mode and relaunch the app, not a huge problem but inconvenient while working a pileup. I had to stand on top of a picnic table and hold my phone at the right angle to update.

I feel like these problems could be resolved by implementing an actual offline mode switch so I can sync on my own terms when I’m back in civilization similar to Spotify’s Offline mode.

Overall great project, way better than anything else I’ve been using keep up the good work folks!

In the new version of the app, just released, the app will work perfectly online, offline, and in a spotty connection!

If you are offline, the logs will store locally on your phone and then sync automatically to the cloud when you get service.

We are ALWAYS writing to the offline database first, so even if you are in an offline or spotty connection, your logs will always save.

This is better than having the user have to switch between offline and online mode, because it is automatic.

Apologies that the forced update came while you had low service and was disruptive, we are going to do our best to figure out a better way to manage that. And the login/logout issues too.

But the issues you had with previous versions are now completely resolved - give the app some more use and let us know how it goes!
