Logs from Old Call Sign and Vanity Call Sign [ANSWERED]

I registered under my old call sign, and never uploaded my logs. I recently received a vanity call sign. I changed my call sign in WRL.

I am now ready to upload my logs from my old call sign, and then begin logging with my new call sign.

Before I pull the trigger, is there anything I should know? Is it just a matter of uploading the old call sign logs and then continue to add QSOs under my new call sign? Or do I need to create a separate logbook for both?

Hi @KZ6M ,

Thanks for joining and thanks for your support!

You can upload your logs from your old call sign, and it should show your old call sign on those contacts (this is expected behavior).

Can you try uploading those, and then just check the contact record to see it has the correct call sign?

Then, I recommend logging your new contacts in a new logbook, just to keep things clean!

You can use QSO Manager to see contacts across different logbooks.

Thanks for the help. I imported an ADIF from RumlogNG with all of the QSO’s from my old call sign (KM4RZT). Everything imported ok, except “MY CALL” which was listed as my new call sign.

Easy fix was to do a bulk edit of the entire log and change KZ6M to KM4RZT. Everything else seems to be in order.

@K4AZE we should take a look at this - if My CallSign is listed in the ADIF during import, we should make sure the import uses that (instead of the profile call sign)

@KZ6M thanks for the details to help us here, for fixing yourself with QSO manager, and for your support by being a premium member! :pray:

@KZ6M Hey John,

After looking into this, for some reason the ADIF you uploaded doesn’t have any data related to your callSign, no operator field, no station_callsign field, no my_callsign field, so by default our import function takes the UserProfile callsigns if none is found on the uploaded file. So Im fairly certain that is the reason it used your new call sign. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks & 73,
Brad
