Need help with radio problem

I don’t know if anyone can help, but I’ve been having a problem with my radio…

I have a Wouxun handheld and I have been having major problems with it cutting in & out. It’s a constant problem and nothing I try seems to work. I’ve tried playing with the settings a bit, and switching antennas but nothing changes.

For reference, I have it set to pick up the NOAA weather radio just so I can test and it cuts out so badly you can’t understand what they’re saying. I’m lucky if I can get 2-3 words in a row, and it doesn’t pick up at all unless I have it set to dual band. I also can’t seem to pick up anything on any other frequency.

I’m pretty new to radio, so I’m not really sure how to even approach this. Any help would be appreciated!!

I would suggest looking at your local club (https://centralmsham.club), they may be able to help you and they have a local weekly net on their repeater (147.345, Positive offset and 100 Hz tone, Thursdays 2000 hours, CMSARA Net – CMSARA). They also have a listing of several local repeaters in the area, Repeaters – CMSARA. The club and the net would be a great place to start and gain experience with communications and activities.
