Transmitting woes on 2M

Howdy,

I’ve finally got my 2M antenna up and connected. I’m receiving fine, but can’t seem to transmit. My local club has a net night every Monday evening, and I can clearly hear everyone, but when I transmit, I break squelch (checked on my Radiodity GA-510) and that’s about all. Last week, it was reported that when I transmitted, all that was heard was “white noise”. I’m using an ICOM IC-2300H and a Diamond X30 antenna., and trying to hit the Ft Jackson repeater near Columbia SC. I found an issue with the mic online, and fixed that problem (silicone rubber actually covering the mic element… no improvement !). Any thoughts or ideas would certainly be most-welcome at this point.

Do you have the proper offset to transmit into the repeater? And the PL code? With a repeater you will hear on one frequency and transmit on an offset frequency. Usually it’s a standard offset depending on the band and frequency.

Hi Chip,

Yes, I did. I ended up deleting the whole shebang, and started over again, and it worked tonite on our club “net-nite”. I must’ve had something else in the settings that didn’t belong in there. Thanks for the response.
