WRL Integration with GridTracker

Looks like iDigi is Mac native, I just downloaded it tonight. Same dev as iFTX, so I’m sure it will be great.

I’m trying to set this up finally (took me long enough!) and notice that the WRL Cat Control app doesn’t want to recognize COM ports created by com0com, which is a necessary port emulator for things like Win4Yaesu or Win4Icom to work. WSJT-X and every other CAT control app I use (including FLrig) does recognize these ports. Is this a known limitation in the CAT app?

The CAT control aspect isn’t necessary for logging, which is what I actually care about - so that part works! But wanted to point out that this might be a bug that needs fixing

@KB0RB Currently the cat control app does not have support for virtual com port software like com0com. It does however (somehow) work with VPSE as i’ve used it before. This is something we will possibly be adding in the future.

I ended up springing for HHD VIrtual Serial Port Tools–not cheap, but seems to provide very stable COM port bridges that work well with WRL CAT Control. (I tried using VSPE and they worked for WRL CC but not some other software I was trying to link up ) I think it might be that com0com port bridges look virtual and WRLCC doesn’t play nice with those, but the ones from VSPE and HHD-VSPT look “normal”.

com0com works perfectly and i’ve never had any other COM port driven app fail to recognize it, and I suspect many other folks use it because it just works as well. I definitely don’t want to buy Yet Another Thing when I have one that works great already!
