WRL Supports Offline Logging (Desktop & Mobile App)

Does WRL have the ability to log without internet. I was told smartlogger does. Please let me know along with how to. Please and Thank You

@KF8BGX Hey Jeff,

Yes, you’ll need to use the mobile app to do this. Just log the contacts, they stay on the local device until you get to a stable internet connection and then they will sync to the web (and web app) automatically as well as do the callsign lookup and pull the data in for the contacts. Once everything is synced you can export your logs either from the mobile app or preferably (because its easier) from the web app.

There are now two options on how to log without internet:

  1. Our desktop app: World Radio League
  2. Our mobile app: Mobile Apps - World Radio League

Both of them will work full offline, and then automatically sync your contacts back to the cloud when you get internet!

This is amazing. I think this is a huge win for WRL Logging and could be mentioned more. Offline logging is a really big deal IMO…

I was playing around today and when I opened the desktop app on my laptop, (offline) it was forcing a login?

Is there a way around this? I may be doing a pota activation Saturday and would really like to try it out.

@NN9Z thanks for asking here - sorry about this!

If you login again, and go offline, it should not require a login.

possibly, you logged out on the web or mobile app, which forced you to log out.

I will do some testing here also.

Let me know - hopefully it works!

So I just did an offline test to confirm, and it is working correctly!

You will get the message that Sync is paused and you need to log in - but your logging will still work.

Once you go back online, everything will sync back up and you’re good to go!

We should remove the Login message when you’re offline though, it’s confusing.

It worked here too.

I don’t believe I explicitly logged out of the app, but it’s possible it had been a bit since I had the desktop app open on this CPU. It did upload the newest update when I connected to wifi.

Okay awesome. We just need to fix the warning banner so it doesn’t show the Login message when you’re offline.

We are also planning more offline features, like an offline callsign database.
