After passing the Technician exam, I purchased the Yaesu FT70D, after passing the General exam I purchased the Lab 599, I’m about to pass the Extra exam and would like to see comments as to the thoughts of the Yaesu FTDX101D.
It’s one of my ultimate dream rigs, I will probably start with a FT-710 or FTdx-10 and get the shack going, then see about moving on to the FTDX-101D or FTDX-101MP.
That rig can last you well into your ham journey and still be a top of the line radio, enjoy you choice.
A good reference for the operation and capabilities for of the FTDX-101D and the FTXXXXX family is N4HNH https://www.youtube.com/@n4hnhradio.
He goes into depth with all the differences and settings for optimum operations and has a patreon channel N4HNH Radio | creating Amateur (HAM) Radio related content | Patreon with detailed guides and more in depth information..
Good luck on your testing and an early welcome to Extra..

I have owned my ft 101 mp for more than 3 years and I believe it is one of the best radios I have ever operated. Good hunting and remember that there is a first time for everything.
