Add CAT Control for Linux

I primarily use Linux Mint now and I don’t really want to use two separate operating systems. Is it possible for you to set up CAT control for Linux? I am sure there are other Linux operators who would also appreciate this feature.

Many thanks.

@M0BOB Hey Robert,

The current cat control app will not however the desktop app that we will be launching very soon has cat control built in natively and will work on any flavor of linux! I hope this at least somewhat helps!

@M0BOB Hey Robert,

Unfortunately no, again the cat control app will be going away once we launch the desktop app as the desktop app will have native cat control built in. I just dont have a date when the desktop app will be launching currently.

Another couple of months, another request for an update! It would be very cool to get an update on expected timelines, I’d love to try the WRL desktop app!

@N3FAR we are finalizing our major database upgrade which took priority over any new features or new releases. We are almost done testing and will be releasing those changes soon. Once those changes have been released the focus will shift back to finishing the desktop app.

@M0BOB unfortunately no, there won’t be a separate cat control app for Linux. There will be cat control built in to the desktop app which will work on Linux

Looking forward to Linux support. Just wanted to mention it here to show support for Linux.

During the live stream on February 2, 2026 it was said that Linux support is very close to be released. Might be as soon as this week.

This will be great! Can’t wait. Been 100% Linux for very long time. WRL is the best logging option I can find currently. Other loggers I have all sorts of keyring issues, bugs, not great contest support, and they are just plain ugly and not modern at all. I don’t mind it being in browser but the idea of a Linux app is welcome. Now if I could only get UltimateAAC for digi awards to work. They have an appimage and I STILL can’t get it going. LOL Anyway…. Thank you for your team working on Linux support. We are growing in numbers. I saw a report Linux hit 11.8 market share.

@WC5B Of course! we’re working on it. I’ve used Linux (mainly debian distros) for the better part of 18 years then got the mac bug but still use windows for my ham stuff. The desktop app that we’ll be releasing we will do a linux build for as well.

Looks like we have a person on the inside, @WC5B! haha

Windows 95 (during the time Windows 98 was out) was the last non-Linux OS I’ve used in my personal life.

Gaming is really pushing folks to Linux nowadays, love it.

Adding my name to the can’t wait for Linux list

UDP broadcast to a Windows VM works ok for FT8 I guess, but would be nice to just have it all built in
