Allow an empty Country field when logging

Good Morning! Thanks again for incorporating my previous requests. I do appreciate your excellent responsiveness and desire to make WRL the best logging app it can be!

I would like to be able to enter an empty Country field when logging a QSO please.

This might be a dup of a prior request, just struggling with this at the moment.

I’m entering contacts from the currently ongoing ARRL VHF contest. The contest exchange is only callsign and grid.

I don’t know what country they were in, and I need to blank out the country field. They happened to mention they were on a summit, so I know they were not at home. They have a VE call so WRL is assuming they were operating from Canada, but the Grid the other op gave me overlaps Canada and the US.

When logging WRL will not let me empty out the Country field, and after I enter the QSO I can’t go back and edit the QSO record to empty out the Country field.

With the popularity of portable operating - POTA, SOTA, VHF on summits, etc., - we need to be able to make no assumptions about the location of the other operator. It is important that we are able to empty out all location fields when entering a QSO. The standard exchanges for many programs and contests usually don’t include comprehensive location information of the other op. We usually only get perhaps State or Grid from the other op, and the best practice is to enter what I hear from the other op and not make assumptions.

@KA3ZPH Hey Tony,

In cases like this you would just enter ‘Their Summit’ which will map the contact to the correct location as the location (grid) gets pulled from the sota reference and it would pull the correct country based on the sota reference.

However with that said, since this was in a contest logbook I dont think that field was available due to the logbook template.

I’ll talk to the team about this though.
