Ok over the Christmas holidays I was traveling with the wife and activated a couple parks with her. BTW her first and my second. Was pretty fun. (more so for me but she placated me! LOL)
Anyway, we activated a couple parks and I used WRL as my main logging software. When we got home I uploaded my contacts to QRZ.Com and went about my vacation. So its been a week or so and I noticed that I got exactly 0 confirmations. Its not that I had the 0 confirmations that was the problem it just had me thinking that I needed to look into it. I started looking and on QRZ I noticed that the mode was this PKTUSB, there was a little note that said if I change it I cant change it back because it is not an active ADIF mode, or something along those lines. Basically, because it is not a recognized mode I cant ever go back if I change it. That isnt the problem it was when I went and checked, all of my contacts have this mode. I went to WRL and verified and every contact was logged as SSB. So for some reason when I did the upload it changed to the PKTUSB.
Am I hitting a wrong button or is this a glitch in the matrix? It is confusing because it says SSB in the log.
First, congratulations on having the wife activate with you!!
So after digging into this, I’m noticing that you don’t have the QRZ import or export integration enabled on your WRL account. So I’m assuming you manually exported the logbooks out of WRL using the ‘Export ADIF or ‘Export Park Num’ (ie Export US-0346 ADIF) links, and then imported them via an ADIF into QRZ correct?
Doing this is fine, shouldn’t cause any issues. I actually went into your account and exported your logs both using the POTA export and the normal ADIF export to confirm that the mode is set to SSB for the QSO’s (which it is).
When we export QSO’s via the QRZ import/export integration we just pass whatever is in your logbook to QRZ, there is no logic that switches or changes any of it.
So with that all said, its got to be a glitch in the matrix, as you call it hahaha. The reason I say this is because most of my QSO’s are logged as SSB in WRL (maybe 5% get logged as USB or LSB) and when they are exported via the QRZ export integration they show in QRZ as SSB as expected.
I normally don’t like to put things off on others without some definitive proof but I do know that QRZ has been having issues with their logbooks since Christmas and after racking my brain on this for a few hours I’m really not sure what else could be the cause of it.
I would go into those QSO’s in your QRZ logbook and just update the mode to SSB and keep any eye on it going forward.
Thanks for checking in to this for me. The explanation you gave is probably what may be causing the issue. I actually just finished manually changing them in QRZ before sending the question out to you. I was just trying to figure it out first before sending it to you because I’m sure you are inundated with problems constantly. You don’t need more from me if I just did something stupid. The only reason I don’t have it integrated right now is I have it going into to a bunch of places and until I get the time this is the best way to make sure I get it uploaded everywhere. I plan on doing it eventually just need time. Anyway thanks for the help and I’m glad it seems to just be a glitch.
@AA8TT No worries at all! That’s what we’re here for! Happy to help! If you run into anything else or if it continues to happen just reach back out and we can do a deeper dive.
