New user Logging Questions #1 Missing Data Fix

Background:

Logging:

My logging process has been to upload to LoTW, then pull from LoTW to QRZ and Club Log.

Everything works fine, but I just discovered that my sent recv’d data does not exist within my QRZ logbook. Oops. So when I pulled my Log from QRZ, my records do not contain the exchange reports. I did a test the last two days of importing directly from my local log. That is when I confirmed the issue.

Question #1:

Rather than edit each individual record. Would it be easier to just delete the log and upload my primary log with all data in tact. In effect I would be starting over. Would this create any issues for confirmations with others within WRL ecosystem? I am aware I can Re-Confirm WRL-QRZ-LoTW once the new log is in place.

Thanks for your help

@N4NG Hey Dave,

Yeah that would probably be the easiest way. The other way would be to use the ‘bulk edit details’ in the QSO manager, but i’m assuming the RST information is going to be different for most QSO’s so that could still be time consuming.

Since you have a QRZ subscription and are a WRL member. The easiest thing to do would be to use the QRZ import integration and import your QSO’s from QRZ. You could delete your logbook in WRL, then create a new logbook in WRL then use the QRZ import integration to import your QSO’s (including confirmations) back into WRL.

After you’ve re-created the logbook in WRL just goto this page (shown below) and select the logbook from the drop down

Then click save and it will start pulling in your QSO’s from QRZ.

I hope this helps

  • The problem is that QRZ is missing the report information.
  • I originally imported my WRL log from QRZ. So WRL Log also is missing those reports.
  • I have learned a valuable lesson here. My original logs-flow-process is flawed.
  • I am now researching this at QRZ. To fix that log.
  • Did LoTW remove this information, or did QRZ? Under investigation..

I will import my original local log to WRL and then re-confirm. This will be the quickest solution to this problem. I will have to see what is involved with QRZ and that repair

@K4AZE I really appreciate your quick response.

@N4NG of course! We have seen reports from LOTW that the RST info was missing. It’s almost like when you upload directly to LOTW they strip that info for some reason but I’ve never confirmed with them.

@K4AZE I just reviewed my account at LoTW. and pulled a log. Indeed the information is missing there. Oh the err of my ways…

I’m guessing that since the exchange is not required for confirmation they disregard, aka strip the data. This would hold true for QRZ as well since the data is not there and I receive confirmations all the time via their system.

For me I prefer complete records. Project repair underway…

Lesson learned.

@N4NG I can confirm that QRZ doesn’t strip the data if the QSO’s are exported from WRL or if you import an ADIF into QRZ. So you should be good if you have the QSO’s in an ADIF. I guess you could delete from QRZ, reimport via an adif and then use the QRZ integration to pull from QRZ, or import into WRL via an ADIF and then export to QRZ.

Let me know if you need a hand.
