When an ADIF is uploaded to an existing logbook any existing records are left untouched even if there is new information in the upload (new values for various fields, changed or updated/corrected values)., correct?
If so there’s no way to update existing QSOs here except by editing them here, right?
@K1RAX Yes that is correct and we dont import duplicate QSO’s either so if the QSO is already in your WRL logbook and you try to import an ADIF with that same QSO it wont import.
If my definitive log had drifted from whats up on WRL what’s he workflow for bringing WRL up to date? Can I just delete my existing WRL log and upload a completely new (actually update) one?
@K1RAX That would be an option. However since you are a WRL member and have a QRZ subscription. You could just delete your logbook in WRL and use the QRZ import integration to automatically import your QSO’s from your QRZ logbook into WRL again. This will also bring in any confirmations you have in QRZ as well. Then if you need to re-check for confirmations later you can use the QSO manager to select all the QSO’s in your account and click the ‘re-check confirmations’ button.
Here is the link to the QRZ integration page. Just add your QRZ API key and select a WRL logbook you want to import your QSO’s into (if you delete your current WRL logbook, just create a new one before setting up the integration so you can select the new logbook from the dropdown).
Let me know if you have any questions or need a hand.
So my workflow is to periodically delete everything from my logbook and then import my definitive ADIF. (QRZ integration alone doesn’t’ do the trick because it doesn’t send power and it doesn’t have parks and locations are wrong or at least imprecise.) That works great, fully updating all records as expected!
But two minor issues/questions:
The confirmations now displayed are different from what I saw before. All the correct confirmations are still there, but now they all show as QRZ confirmed (the ones that previously showed as LotW-confirmed are no longer distinguished). Not a big deal but unclear why.
On the mobile app (only) the old QSOs are all still there, so while I have the correct number of QSOs in the log, the map appears to have twice that number: both the ones I uploaded most recently and the ones that I deleted before the upload. I can spot this because the old entires had my location wrong and for each contact there is a correct and a (old) wrong location depicted. This is not the case on the map on the website, which works fine.
As far as the mobile app, its most likely just a sync issue and you’ll probably just need to open the app and then swipe down on the main logbooks page to force a re-sync.
Since you have QRZ subscription, after you’ve re-imported your QSO’s you could goto the QSO manager and select all your QSO’s via the ‘Select All XXX QSO’’ link and then click the ‘Re-check Confirmations’ button and as long as you’ve got the QRZ and LOTW integration setup and configured it will go out and pull in your confirmations again.
One thing to note there is a hierarchy for the confirmations being displayed. We prioritize WRL, then QRZ then LOTW. So for example if you have a contact that is confirmed on WRL, QRZ and LOTW we will currently only show the green check for the WRL confirmation. If that contact is only confirmed on QRZ or LOTW we will only show the yellow star for the QRZ confirmation, and so on.
We will be adding all 3 icons to show the confirmation for all three, if they are confirmed on all three, or show 2 icons if they are confirmed by two sources.
