I was experiencing disconnects from my Cat Control if I didn’t use the the radio for a little bit. I suspected the Laptop (Windows 11) was turning OFF the Com Port if no use for a while. In the Windows 11 Device Manager (Windows Control Panel) , under Communication Ports, Right Click for Com Port Properties, Power Management tab, I had a box checked “Allow the computer to Turn Off Port to save Power” . I unchecked the Box. Reboot the Laptop and re-started WRL. Using Cat Control Ver. 1.06
I’m hoping this will solve the problem! Testing now.
I left the Laptop inactive around 10 minutes and when I comeback to use the laptop I had already lost the cat control. To regain it I had to turn Off Cat Control and Re-launch the APP, to re-connect. If I leave WRL inactive for a while I lose Cat Control.
@KE8RRG I have not experienced this. I’m wondering if there is another windows setting that is causing the disconnects. Let me look into this and do some research and i’ll get back with you.
Brad, I thought the problem could have been my PC-Matic Virus and firewall protection. But I turned it off and I am still getting the disconnects when I leave the laptop alone for a while. I have turned off all Power Savings options in my laptop that I know of.
It is not a big deal. I just close the Cat control app and relaunch it and it works just fine while I am on the radio. It happens If I leave the laptop for a while…. I don’t know exactly how long but it is between 30 min to an hour. It is like I have a no activity time out….
No big deal. I just want to bring up the issue in case you hear from other users similar behavior. I suspect it is on my side.
