I have used the FTX-1 Optima and WRL desktop with cat control many times with no issues. I used it as recent as last Friday. For some reason, it will not connect now. Is someone able to provide assistance?
It will connect for a few seconds and then I get the “degrade” error, then it disconnects a few seconds later. I have tried different USB ports, restarting the Mac, restarting the WRL desktop, etc. I also tried the WRL cat control app and got the same results.
I’ll preface this by saying, at least with the desktop app there have been some changes that could affect this but the cat control has stayed the same so there shouldn’t be any issues there. We’ll be pushing fixes for the desktop app in the latest release later this week. However with all that said make sure your radio settings are set to the following:
In your radio settings in the “Operation Settings” menu –> “General” make sure to set the ‘CAT RATE” to “38400” (This is important)
In your radio settings in the “Operation Settings” menu –> “General” make sure to set the ‘CAT TIME OUT TIMER” to “100msec” (10msec is too fast and will cause time-out errors)
In your radio settings in the “Operation Settings” menu –> “General” make sure to set the ‘CAT RTS” to “OFF”
In your radio settings in the “Radio Settings” menu → “SSB” make sure to set the “REAR SELECT” to “DATA”
In your radio settings in the “Radio Settings” menu → “MODE PSK/DATA” make sure to set the “DATA MOD SOURCE” to “REAR”
In your radio settings in the “Radio Settings” menu → “MODE PSK/DATA” make sure to set the “REAR SELECT” to “USB”
In your radio settings in the “Radio Settings” menu → “MODE PSK/DATA” make sure to set the “RPTT SELECT” to “RTS”
For Proper FT8 Settings:
In your radio settings in the “Radio Settings” menu → “MODE PSK/DATA” set the “DATA MOD SOURCE” to “REAR”
In your radio settings in the “Radio Settings” menu → “MODE PSK/DATA” set the “REAR SELECT” to “USB”
In your radio settings in the “Radio Settings” menu → “MODE PSK/DATA” set the “RPORT GAIN” to “12”
In your radio settings in the “Radio Settings” menu → “MODE PSK/DATA” set the “RPTT SELECT” to “RTS”
In your radio settings in the “Operation Settings” menu –> “General” set the ‘CAT RTS” to “OFF”
I’m pretty sure your radio has most if not all of those settings (my dx10 and 991a do at least). You also want to make sure you are using the enhanced com port and not the standard. since you aren’t running windows i’m not sure there is a way to know which of the two com ports that opens for the radio is the enhanced or not, usually its the first one though (at least on my linux machine it is).
