Is there a way to create CW macros for use with a Winkeyer and ifso, where is set up found? Where is the set up for CAT control located? I canno0t find either from logbook screen. Are these features available on a free account?
Thank You
Tim

@K1VP Hey Tim,
There is currently not a way to do macros but its on our list.
Yes you can use the cat control app via a free account. Just simply goto the integrations page and download the cat control app for your OS. ( World Radio League )
There are some things you need to setup for this to work properly.
What radio are you using?
General setup instructions are:
Important Notes (For Windows Users):
Go to ‘Device Manager’ –> ‘Ports (COM & LPT)’ and right click on your COM port for your radio, then click ‘Properties’
Under the ‘Port Settings’ Tab, make sure you have set the baud rate under the ‘Bits Per Second’ drop down that you’ve set inside your radio settings (do this for both COM ports for your radio, if you have more than 1).
If you have a ‘Power Management’ Tab make sure to uncheck/disable the two options here that say “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” & “Allow this device to wake the computer”
You’ll need to make sure you have your baud rate set in your radio settings to the same thing you set it in your COM port settings. If your radio settings have a setting for Cat Time Out Timer, you’ll need to set this to 100msec instead of 10msec (10 is too fast). If your radio has two com ports (standard and enhanced), you’ll need to use the enhanced com port.
FTdx101D/MP | FTdx10 | FT710 Radio Settings:
In your radio settings in the “Operation Settings” menu –> “General” make sure to set the ‘CAT RATE” to “38400” (or whatever you’ve set in the ‘Port Settings’ tab in device manager above)
In your radio settings in the “Operation Settings” menu –> “General” make sure to set the ‘CAT TIME OUT TIMER” to “100msec” (10msec is too fast and will cause time-out errors)
FT991A Radio Settings:
031 CAT RATE: Set to 9600 bps / 38400 (recommended for compatibility and stability with Hamlib).
032 CAT TIME OUT TIMER: 100msec
033 CAT RTS: Set to ENABLE (this enables hardware flow control via RTS).
062 DATA MODE: Set to OTHERS (required for proper digital mode and CAT operation).
064 OTHER DISP (SSB): Set to 1500 Hz (centers the audio filter for data modes).
065 OTHER SHIFT (SSB): Set to 1500 Hz (widens the effective audio bandwidth).
071 DATA PTT SELECT: Set to RTS (ensures proper PTT control via the USB interface).
072 DATA PORT SELECT: Set to USB (uses the USB data port for communication).
Icom 7300 Radio Settings (may have to turn CI-V USB Echo Back: On):
CI-V Baud rate: Auto
CI-V address: 94h
CI-V Transceive: ON
CI-V USB Port: Unlink from remote
CI-V USB Baud Rate: 9600 ** IMPORTANT **
CI-V USB Echo Back: OFF
USB Send: off
USB Keying: off

Just adding my “thumbs up” to supporting CW sending with macros from WRL - preferably the desktop app. Winkeyer support would be enough for me but I’m sure there are folks who would appreciate the DTS/RTS toggle approach. I don’t use a paddle, much faster with a keyboard :). Without this support I have to mouse back and forth between a CW sender and WRL. It’s not too bad for casual contacts but clunky for contesting. Thanks and 73, Rowland K4XD
I do see now that I can use N1MM+ for the contest and WRL CAT Control to listen to N1MM+ and automatically add N1MM+ contacts to a WRL log created for the contest. This is helpful for now, but it puts WRL in a tracking role rather than the active log, and given the limited screen real estate that is taken up by N1MM+ during a contest, it hides some of the fun contesting features of WRL by putting them out of sight. So… still looking forward to some basic integrated CW support in WRL - Winkeyer plus macros! Thanks and 73, Rowland K4XD
Great request here, thanks everyone. We will add some extra priority to the CW macros!
