Good day,
I am a avid flex user and so far I can’t get the cat control to connect to my flex. I figured I would take it 1 step at a time and start with my windows machine that is located directly at the site since my set up is 100% remote.
So far i can’t get it to connect with my smart Cat no matter what settings or selections i pick.
I have tried all the flex settings in the selection, kenwood settings, hamlib etc. thoughts?
Same here - also 100% remote with Flex. I can connect using N3FJP just fine, but the WRL app shows that there is a connection, but nothing happens. Here are my N3FJP settings, which work:
I have the same issue. I think you can only have one CAT control going. I have N3FJP running flawlessly and it logs all FT-8 contact then uploads them to 4 logs automatically. I have gotten WRL to connect before so I believe you cannot have WSJT-X controlling your rig frequencies (I could be wrong) as then the WRL connector although says connected shows zero db of traffic. I have yet to have it successfully log anything using the connector.
I’ve been doing some experimenting and have been able to get the Flex frequency to appear in the WRL CAT app when I chose the Kenwood R-5000. This makes sense because the FlexRadio CAT command set is based upon the Kenwood format.
We are finalizing some changes to the cat control app that will support flex radios and virtual ports! We should be ready to release this update early next week!
The closest I’ve been able to connect a Flex 6600 to WRL is: In SmartSDR CAT, create a TCP Port ‘in this case 5005’, and in WRL CAT Control, use the FlexRadio 6xxx.. model with 5005 as the CAT Port.
For me, the radio connected successfully but will only display the VFO/Slice A frequency, nothing on the meter, and does populate the correct Frequency and Band in the Log Book. I would imagine this would work for any SmartSDR radios (6000 & 8000)
Yeah, I don’t see anything on the meter either. But I wouldn’t really need that for anything anyway. The frequency and band are showing up in the log book OK, which is vital.
Yup. I was using the Kenwood settings, but I think they changed something, and the Flex settings are working for me. Either is fine since they use the same format.
I have a Flex 6400 and since the last update 1.05 everything works when using SmartSDR on the computer. However I cannot get anything to work when I try to use my Maestro C. Is this a known issue?
Side note off topic, why does it say I am a free member when I am signed up for the basic?
Thank you for the reply. I am not in front of my Maestro currently, so I cannot try right now. I can say after I installed 1.05 I tried to connect while using the Maestro and it would not connect. I was trying to use the same port as I do with the computer, is that correct? I looked all over in the Maestro menu and could not find a UDP port to point your CAT control to. It is very possible a user error issue.
I just tried setting up WRL CAT for a Flex 6300 using the Flex 6000 setting in WRL CAT . I also tried using the Kenwood 5000 setting. Both got successful notices from WRL CAT but the Flex never changed frequency when clicking on a spot in WRL. Same problem as I used to have a few weeks ago with my FT-710 . Suggestions.?
were you able to get this to work Andy. I am happy to remote in and assist if needed. I have done this successfully on Mac and Windows. Please let me know.
