@W8BBK we just released an update about an hour ago. Go to the integrations page, if you don’t see the 1.0.7 cat control app then hold shift in your keyboard and click the refresh button in your browser. Then download the cat control update and install it. It now has support for the 710, dx10, & 101mp

Thanks & 73

Perfect! I’ll be sure to try it out! I was using the older version, and it gets the logging part done. That’s how I’m on the F-T8 Leaderboard.

I downloaded the new software, and when it finally finished, I set the radio model, port, and baud rate. Voila! It connected to my FT-710 with absolutely no problem! However, when I opened WSJT-Z, it appeared there was some interference between the usage of the port. I started using F-T8 not that long ago, so I’m not sure if this is me, or the WRL Cat Control.

Awesome @KJ5LMZ so glad it’s working with your Yaesu now! I’m not sure about WSJT-Z so I’ll defer to @K4AZE on that one.

@KJ5LMZ

To set the connection between WSJTX follow these instructions to the T and it will work.

WRL Cat Control / WSJTX / GridTracker / QRZ Integration Steps:

  1. Start by going to the integrations page in WRL and downloading the cat control app (World Radio League)

  2. Start the following apps in the following order (this seems to be important). Start WRL Cat Control first (then connect to your radio and make sure its connected then start WSJTX listening after making sure the port is set like in the screenshot labeled “WORKING-WSJTX-WRL-catControl-SETTINGS”), then start Grid Tracker, Then start WSJTX or JTDX (whichever you prefer).

  3. Then go into the settings for GridTracker and under ‘General’ set the ports to match the screenshot i’ve attached labeled “WORKING-GRIDTRACKER-SETTINGS-1”. Then goto the “Logging” tab and set two things that are highlighted red in the screenshot labeled “WORKING-GRIDTRACKER-SETTINGS-2”. NOTE: since there is no WRL option in GridTracker i enabled the last option that says “HRD Logbook” and tied it to the same port. Again, this may or may not be necessary but this is what I did.

  4. Then go to your WSJTX / JTDX settings and go to the “Radio” tab and make sure its set to hamlib as well as click the “Update Hamlib” button at the bottom of the screen (this is highlighted red in the screenshot “WORKING-WSTJX-rigSETTINGS”) NOTE: after clicking the ‘update hamlib’ button you’ll need to close and reopen WSTJX)

  5. Then reopen the WSTJX Settings and goto the “Reporting” tab in WSJTX/JTDX and make sure everything is setup the same way it shows in the screenshot “WORKING-WSJTX-reportingSETTINGS”

At this point everything should be setup to correctly talk to one another. I would close everything out and open each app in the order I mention in #2. Then make a contact, once the logging window pops up in WSJTX add your power and comment (if you add this information) and click the ok button to log the QSO. After about a second or so the contact will show up in your WRL logbook as well as in your QRZ logbook .

Let me know if you have any issues.

@K4AZE Great explanation and photos!! Very detail and to the point! THANKS! for others I have found that when you are done you should log off the CAT Control and sign out. Then when ready to use again, just sign back in via WRL. just my .02 cents

Yes, I had the same issue – when the WRL CAT control is listening, no contacts appear in the Gridtracker call roster. I suspect that it is because the WRL CAT control doesn’t support UDP multicasting. I registered an issue about this. Perhaps @N0APX can confirm this ? And whether multicasting is coming? It’s kind of a big deal because I think most of us run “side” apps along with WSJT-X (like Gridtracker). 73

@KE9CQP I just replied to your ticket you put in. Currently we dont support multicasting however below are instructions that do work (i currently use them) and the contacts show up in the grid tracker call roster, i’m able to double click them and it triggers wsjtx/jtdx to start a qso.

Here are instructions on how I have that setup and working. Several other users use it this way as well.

WRL Cat Control / WSJTX / GridTracker / QRZ Integration Steps:

  1. Start by going to the integrations page in WRL and downloading the cat control app (World Radio League)

  2. Start the following apps in the following order (this seems to be important). After about a second or so the contact will show up in your WRL logbook as well as in your QRZ logbook .

I’ve also added a screenshot of the JTDX settings if you prefer to use that instead of WSJTX, if not you can ignore that screenshot.

Hello @K4AZE,

I launched the WRL Cat Control, and the application connected perfectly!

However, when I opened WSJT-Z (which worked for a while) it

gave me the following error: Failed to close orphaned jt9 process

I restarted my computer, and tried again only to get the same response.

I also attempted to remove and reinstall WSJT-Z, but that only aroused a different error:

Error opening file for writing:

C:\\WSJT\wsjtx\bin\Qt5Core.dll

Click Abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore to skip this file.

Hopefully you know how to fix this!

@KJ5LMZ I honestly have never seen this. I would uninstall WSJTX and reinstall it. then re-setup the ports and radio conneciton to hamlib.
