Went on the logging screen, if you have entered some information into your current contact but end up not logging that contact, is there a way to quickly clear all of the fields without having to go to each one?
@N0WOK Hey Daren,
Yes if you just clear out the callsign it will clear out the rest of the fields. There is also a āclearā button beside the ālog contactā button on the web app that will do the same.
I hope this helps.
Thanks & 73

Thank You⦠I was using the iPad app⦠but I now see it in the web version.
Brad, I just saw this answer and I tried it and it doesnāt work for me. I am using the Linux .deb desktop app. I know itās in Beta and was just wondering if it could be set up to use the āescā to clear all of the fields, please. Iām just getting started learning this, so if there is a workaround then please let me know.
Thank you,
Rich N5BLM
@N5BLM Iām happy to talk to the team about this and get their input but you should just simply be able to click the āclearā button and it clear out all the fields except maybe freq field. This works as expected on my ubuntu machines by clicking the clear button.
How did you install the deb on you machine?
Brad,
Thank you for the reply. I can hit clear and that works. I am coming from N3FJP and am also a contester and Iāve gotten used to just hitting the āescā key to clear everything out when Iām not able to finalize the contact. Thatās why I was asking about it. I donāt do a lot of keyboard shortcuts but the ones I do use have proved invaluable to me during contests.
I hate Windows that is why I switched to Linux, I just hadnāt found a logging program (like N3FJP) on the Linux side to my liking. So, I have a VM using QEMU/KVM and Windows 10 on it so I could use N3FJP. I am trying to give WRL a try because I can keep everything on Linux (my ultimate goal). As far as the .deb, I just downloaded it and double clicked it and it opened in Software Sources and I could click install. Itās a pretty slick setup. I run Kubuntu 26.04LTS, it should work the same way with you running Ubuntu. I had tried Wine in the past and that was a pain, so I stay away from it now. It might work, but I just run the VM and use N3FJP (itās honestly the only reason I have a VM). Hope this helps.
@N5BLM yeah wine is the bane of my existence. When it works, it works, but most of the time it doesnāt (at least not like I would want). I always install debs via the terminal with:
sudo dpkg -i filename.deb
To ensure it gets installed correctly, but Iām sure the other way is fine as it sounds like everything is working as expected but Iām just a terminal guy. Iāll add this as a feature request (to clear the fields like the clear button does), canāt imagine itāll be a problem.
@K4AZE Thank you for sending it on. I do use the terminal for a lot. But when I found this feature it really makes life easier for me. Yeah, when I went on the hunt for a good logging program on Linux, I was disappointed. Iām not a programmer so making my own would have caused problemsā¦hihi. When I was on Windows I found N3FJP and just fell in love with it, so that is why I have the VM. Getting the USB passthrough was a bit of a challenge and keeping it open and not sleep while Iām not using it was another thing as well. But, I have that figured out, So all is well.
Do you know (or have a list) of all the contests WRL supports. I keep N3FJP as a backup (because I know it works). I do know that WRL is working on building out the contest side (and that is a great thing). But if at least the Major contests are supported I probably fully switch to using WRL. I am using it and learning it and I really do like it for everyday logging. Iām kind of waiting to see what comes out on the contest side.
Have a Blessed Day,
Rich N5BLM
@N5BLM Currently we can support pretty much any contest as long as the contest exchange is the same no matter location. Example: some contests will have a Serial # required for say the US but other countries it isnāt required and that we canāt support yet, but like you said we are working on building out MANY MANY other contesting features and functionality that will allow us to do pretty much whatever we want. If there is a contest on the upcoming pages that you dont see that you want to participate in just let me know and iāll get it added.
These are the main contests that I normally like to run.
CQWW DX (SSB) Oct 24-25
November Sweeps Nov 21-23
ARRL 10M Dec 12-13
ARRL International DX (SSB) March 6-7, 2027.
I see from the list you have Winter Field Day so that is awesome. If itās possible to add these that would be amazing. Thank you
@N5BLM Yeah no worries iāll get them added in the next week or so at the latest. I usually dont add them until they are about a month or two out, so if you dont see something up there thats usually why
@N5BLM Iāve added all of these (including some CW versions of the same ones) except the sweepstakes ones as weāll need to make a change for this to work properly on our end. I"ll talk to the team and hopefully get these changes made before the contest. They are technically added just hidden until I can get these updates made.
Brad,
Thank you so much, that is amazing. I appreciate it.
