Windows Desktop App: Callsign Field Becomes Unresponsive After Deleting Contact

@N0WRL @K4AZE @N0APX Has anyone else run into this with the World Radio League Windows desktop app version 0.1.1?

After logging a contact and then deleting that contact from the logbook with the trash can icon, the callsign entry field becomes unresponsive. This happens after any deletion, not just duplicates.

It is not just losing focus. I cannot click back into the field, the cursor does not appear, and the field will not activate so I can continue logging.

The only workaround we have found is to close the entire desktop app, reopen it, and restart rig/control integration. Then it works again until the issue happens again.

This is happening on two different Windows 11 computers. It happens both when logged in as a club and when logged in normally with individual accounts.

We have searched through the community forum and have not found anything that matches this exact issue. We have also submitted the bug report twice, and the second report includes a video showing the problem.

I am also including a YouTube video link here so the issue can be seen clearly:

We would really appreciate any help or suggestions, especially with Field Day coming up. I am a lifetime WRL member and recommended World Radio League to our club, so I would really like to get this resolved quickly if possible.

@AG5CC We got your two tickets and will look into this. Keep in mind the desktop app is still beta however with that said, this shouldn’t happen and I am able to reproduce this issue.

@AG5CC We’ve got a fix in place and will be pushing an update to the desktop app shortly. Just make sure to update to v0.1.2 once its available for download

Hi @AG5CC THANK YOU for your detailed report and for escalating this issue!

The root cause is that the windows native confirmation modal fails to gain refocus on the UI elements.

Thanks to your great help we will be fixing and deploying this update ASAP!

Now that I have recovered a little from 24 hours of Field Day  , I want to say a sincere thank you to @K4AZE , @N0APX , @N0WRL and everyone else at World Radio League.

Right before Field Day I reported this bug in the Windows desktop app where, after deleting a contact from the logbook, the callsign entry field became unresponsive. It was not just losing focus. The field could not be clicked, the cursor would not appear, and the only workaround was to close the app, reopen it, and restart rig/control integration.

I understand the desktop app is still beta, so bugs are going to happen. What impressed me was the response.

I submitted the bug report, then submitted a second one with an iPhone video because I knew the video would help show exactly what was happening. Sorry for the duplicate ticket, but I wanted to make sure the team had what they needed to reproduce it.

@K4AZE confirmed he could reproduce the issue, and before Field Day there was already a fix pushed in v0.1.2. That is an unbelievable turnaround.

I had recommended World Radio League to our club and pushed for us to use it instead of our previous logging setup. When this bug showed up, some members were ready to go back. Then WRL got the fix out, and we were able to use World Radio League for our small 3A Field Day operation.

You all made me look good, and more importantly, you made the club feel like our issue mattered.

Thank you to Brad, Andy, James, and everyone involved. The support response was outstanding. I am very glad I chose to become a lifetime WRL member, and I will keep recommending World Radio League to other operators. :raising_hands: :flexed_biceps:
