I’m warming up to using the Spotting tab/sidebar, but doing so has generated some requests and gripes. I hope it’s not too annoying to pile it all in one post–all feedback is about the web version. In the interest of full transparency, I often find myself still using the official POTA spotting page while running the POTAPlus browser extension since it includes some of the features below, and then either manually entering info into WRL or finding the spot again in WRL’s spotting tab. Without further ado:
- #1 request: a way to hide or gray out a spot if I know I can’t reach the station, perhaps just for a certain amount of time
- #2 request: Show state column (but make sure it’s the POTA state, not home QTH). It’s in the hover pop-up, but I’d like to see it in the table.
- Please add an indicator in the column that a sort is active–data will change, but arrows don’t change to reflect sort in place.
- #1 gripe: Considerable frustration here that the list resets to the top every time it refreshes–as someone who sorts by Frequency and tries to work my way through the band, I’m constantly scrolling back down to find my spot.
- This causes me to usually end up pausing and manually refreshing the tab because of the disruption–maybe we could manually set the refresh period?
- Related to the last, it would be nice to have the “current spot”, the one I copied into the logging form, highlighted in some way. Yellow, perhaps?
- It would be great if the filters & view buttons were collapsible; when I log on my small laptop screen, these take up quite a bit of vertical space, which makes the reset worse every time it refreshes.
- Stretch request: Incorporate my POTA data (a la the POTAPlus extension) to show me which parks are new to me when I’m hunting.
Thanks for the patience to read through these, I hope it helps!
