Thank you WRL! - Awesome program for generating a Hawaii QSO Party Cabrillo file!

I played in last weekend’s Hawaii QSO Party while I was on vacation. I was K6WDE/KH6 in KAU (Kapa’a, Kauai county, state of Hawaii) and in grid BL02ib. I made 52 QRP QSOs on 8/23 and 8/24/25.

I used Ham2K (PoLo, yes a MISTAKE, I thought it would be quicker and faster) to record the QSOs for the HQP.

When finished, I exported the adif log
“K6WDE-KH6-20250824-general-operation-full.adi” and emailed it to myself.

Ham2K cannot export a cabrillo file, I found out after the fact, groan.

I used World Radio League (WEB VERSION) on my Mac to create a log and export *.adif and Cabrillo.log files of the contest. That worked without having to leave the Mac environment!

Steps

  1. Created a 2nd location in WRL for my Kapa’a location and used that for my location in the contest logbook.

  2. Created the HI QSO Party contest log “K6WDE - Hawaii QSO Party Log” (with the template … had to go back in time, VIEW CONTESTS, RECENTLY COMPLETED and chose the “Hawaii QSO Party”). Made sure that my exchange was county “KAU” and my location was HAWAII/KAU.

  3. Imported the “K6WDE-KH6-20250824-general-operation-full.adi” file to the WRL log and it imported the 52 contacts.

  4. Exported from WRL, an *.adif (“K6WDE_K6WDE - Hawaii QSO Party Log_1756407152694.adi”) and cabrillo file. I had to edit the cabrillo header on the file with the WRL easy editor feature. I adjusted the header in WRL to make the callsign K6WDE/KH6, QRP, BL02ib … but left my home address in Toquerville, UT

Left the WRL environment and then went to QRZ.

  1. Created a new K6WDE/KH6 log in QRZ.com (August 1, 2025 to August 1, 2031)

  2. Exported the new ADIF file “K6WDE_K6WDE - Hawaii QSO Party Log_1756407152694.adi” into that new logbook, K6WDE/KH6, on QRZ for import. 52 contacts showed up!

  3. Requested verification of my contacts on QRZ, and that worked just fine!

  1. The exported WRL Cabrillo log uploaded just fine to the HQP log uploader (on their webpage).

  2. Uploaded the “K6WDE_K6WDE - Hawaii QSO Party Log_1756407152694.adi” via an updated version of TQsl on my Mac. I did this directly, rather than through the QRZ “Send the selected records to LoTW”. I couldn’t get them to upload directly from QRZ, given that I spent too much time and energy already.

  3. MORAL OF THE STORY - USE WRL - HAPPY CAMPER, THANKS GUYS, YOU ROCK!
