Don’t make me fork the WRL code base and put these in!

  1. Option to clear freq when clear button hit
  2. Light up the Park oval bright green when park is found

@KC1UUH The frequency not clearing is there on purpose. It used to be like you’re suggesting but was HIGHLY requested to have it the way it was. However, with that said we are planning on a creating some logbook settings that will allow you to enable/disable this (and other settings).

We can for sure add a feature to turn the ‘Their Park’ field green, we actually have some enhancements around this already in the works. Just gotta get through this WRTC weekend.

For the people that wanted the frequency to stay in place, did they state why they would want that? If they are sitting on a freq and calling CQ that would make sense, or if they were activating a POTA / SOTA that would also make sense, but were there other reasons I can’t think of?

I’m curious as to whether WRL has any internal analytics that would show a breakdown of how the various logs are being used from a percentage standpoint.

For example:
POTA hunting

POTA activating

Contesting

Special Event activating

etc.

I would prefer to keep the frequency in place when hunting. When you hit log contact, there is a long delay before the POTA list highlights the contact. The callsign and all other info clears. Having the frequency stay there lets me know where I was in the list. It is especially helpful when making a QSO when there are multiple operators. With all the noise lately, I can look at the frequency and find the other other ops in the POTA list by that frequency. I answered a QC the other day that had 4 ops. There was so much noise, I couldn’t make out the other call signs.

Yes, that’s understandable. And when you’re activating a park etc, you want the frequency to stay put then as well.

Adding the option to clear or not clear the frequency would be a good solution for all conditions.

Maybe the solution for me is to find another logger for hunting. I would just prefer to keep logging all in one spot.

I’m a hunter 99.995% of the time. I use the POTA page to see the Spot, I tune to the Spot, I make the contact, I log the contact by overwriting the previous frequency, and then I repeat the process. That’s why I want the frequency line to clear when the logging action is executed, but I can certainly understand why others would want the frequency to remain the same for each contact.

I am 99% sure that Brad has already stated that this option will be forthcoming so that both camps can set it up in the manner best suited for their own needs.
