WRL installation issue

I downloaded WRL on my Win 11 machine. I had to bypass a warning. When I tried to install, Norton 360 said it had malware, wouldn’t install, and deleted the file. Help please.

@KN4IOU i’m assuming your talking about the cat control app?

For now you’ll have to add it to the exclusions list.

A quick google search says to Navigate to Settings > Antivirus > Scans and Risks > Exclusions / Low Risks > Scan Exclusions to add the file or folder to the exclusion list

AVG reports the integration installer contains “FileRepMalware” and quarantines it.

@W9IKE We are working on adding a certificate to the app so this doesn’t happen. Its clean. You can whitelist it.

AVG does not give that option but I have reported it to AVG asking for the installer to be white listed.

@W9IKE A quick google search shows that as long as its not the free version it can be.

AVG Firewall Settings (for network or app access):
If the app is being blocked during installation due to firewall rules:

  • Open the AVG Internet Security or AVG Premium Security interface.

  • Click on the Firewall tile.

  • Go to Settings > Applications.

  • If the app isn’t listed, click Add, browse to the app’s executable file, and select it.

  • Set the Action to Allow.

  • Click Create, then OK to save.

AVG Virus Shield Exceptions (for file blocking):
If AVG is blocking the installer file itself:

  • Open the AVG interface.

  • Go to Settings > Exceptions.

  • Click Add Exception, select File, and browse to the installer.

  • Click OK twice to confirm.

That was the trick. Installed successfully. Thanks for the quick response.

@W9IKE no problem. if you are using a FTdx101D/MP, FTdx10, FT710 make sure the following is setup properly. If you are using a different radio, the menu options may be a bit different but i would still highly recommend following the device manager setup below.

Important Notes (For Windows Users):

  • Go to ‘Device Manager’ –> ‘Ports (COM & LPT)’ and right click on your COM port for your radio, then click ‘Properties’

  • Under the ‘Port Settings’ Tab, make sure you have set the baud rate under the ‘Bits Per Second’ drop down that you’ve set inside your radio settings (do this for both COM ports for your radio, if you have more than 1).

  • If you have a ‘Power Management’ Tab make sure to uncheck/disable the two options here that say “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” & “Allow this device to wake the computer”

  • FTdx101D/MP | FTdx10 | FT710 Users:

    • In your radio settings in the “Operation Settings” menu –> “General” make sure to set the ‘CAT RATE” to “38400” (or whatever you’ve set in the ‘Port Settings’ tab in device manager above)

    • In your radio settings in the “Operation Settings” menu –> “General” make sure to set the ‘CAT TIME OUT TIMER” to “100msec” (10msec is too fast and will cause time-out errors)
