Macbook pro cat control for the ic-7760

Hello all,

I’d like to share what ended up working for me to control the Icom IC-7760 using a mac. This works both from the browser and the rig to change the frequency.

Browser - Safari. I’m not sure how much it matters.

I used a USB-B to USB-C adapter (from amazon) on the back of the 7760 head unit and a USB-C to USB-C cable plugged directly into the mac. It didn’t work through my thunderbolt 4 docking station.

Radio model: 7760 20250517.0 Alpha RIG_MODEL_IC7760

Serial port: /dev/tty.usbmodem1101

Baud rate: 19200 (I left the ic-7760 setting on Auto)

Once you get the fluctuating S-meter within the WRL cat control and have a continuously pulsating green dot next to the frequency in your logbook, you can fiddle with the tuning knob and it should populate the frequency field. You should then be able to enter a frequency in that field and click Mhz to control the radio.

I never click “Stop Radio Connection,” I just right click and close the WRL Cat Control app to disconnect.

All the best,

Ben AJ7CD
