Winter Field Day ADIF Fields Reuqest

Hello all, Mike Kelly from the Winter Field Day Association here. I noticed your ADIF export from a WFD log contains the class/category in a field called CONTEST_EXCHANGE1 and the ARRL Section in a field called CONTEST_EXCHANGE2. I’m requesting those be changed to CLASS and ARRL_SECT respectively to help us process logs effectively and establish a standard. Thanks.

@KY4LV Hey Mike,

Yes we haven’t completed the changes to the contest templates/exports yet but thank you VERY much for reaching out!. Typically users export via a Cabrillo instead of an ADIF but we can make these changes to the ADIF export no problem. I’ll ping you here once we’ve pushed the rest of the updates to the contest and have you do a once over and if you can let us know anything that we should change we’d be happy to. The last thing we want is to cause you guys more work on the backend.

Hello, doing some testing for WFD and cannot seem to find the field day/wfd template. Is it only active during field day/wfd ?

@KJ5NOV There is no specific template. When we create contests, thats where they are and when you enroll in the contest it creates your logbook for you.

I guess i can go ahead and create the WFD contest though. What exactly are you trying to do or are testing?

Seeing what the capabilities are for group logging. Whether each logging station in our location will need its own account or will need to operate from one club account.

And

What the flow is like for users… In essence making sure our new attending members can use it with minimal explanation or experience on the day

@KJ5NOV I normally dont add contests this far out but i’ve went ahead and created the WFD 2027 contest (the rules listed most likely will change a bit and will be updated before the contest starts, as well as there will be additional features that will be added such as multiplier tracking, etc). It can be found on the ‘Upcoming Contests’ page at the very bottom.

So what you and your club can do is you can just have one club account and share the login information between the club members. I would highly recommend the members use the desktop app which will allow each person to use cat control independently and set their operator call (while still having the station call set to the club account callsign).

This is will be very similar if not exactly the same for WFD.
