Just watched a video on the WRL logbook, looks very interesting. I do have a couple questions, or possible feature request.
Are there plans for adding Rig Control to the WRL logbook?
Being able to have the logbook communicate with the radio is a great feature especially in context. Along with Rig Control it would be a nice feature to be able to link WRL logbook to other programs like WSJT-X, FLDigi etc.
Thank you and looking forward to seeing what features are added.
Hi @N8OFP ![]()
Welcome to the community ![]()
In our roadmap there is already the CAT Control and about linking WSJTX, etc. with our log. Soon those features will be available ![]()

Add me to the list of users that would jump ship and use this logger over anything else if there was CAT control.

Thanks for the great effort! Glad to be on board for this new adventure. Even just an API option so we can link our existing loggers to this. I use MacLogger currently and it uploads to several 3rd parties for me, QRZ, eQSL, LoTW.
Definitely CAT control needed and look forward to it in the future, the web app looks clean and fresh keep up the good work 73
Jumping in to say we’re definitely working on cat control! I’m actually sitting in a cleanup meeting now… expect to see a lot of quality of life improvements for y’all! Cat control will also end up on all platforms where possible, so expect some enhanced functionality over other platforms.
+1 upvote rig control Please do it flexibly via Hamlib/Omnirig but dont forget servers like Flrig or HRD

The new update (end of month or beginning of September) includes the QSO manager and several templates for SOTA, IOTA, etc. Then the next update will be CAT, synchronization between WRL and WSJT, and much more. The developers are working hard to make all the features available in the log ![]()
Really glad to hear CAT will be included soon in WRL logbook. I’ve been using QRZ logging and its tedious adding the frequency. I then bought HRD logbook for its CAT features but it’s very complex and has a learning curve. I enjoyed the ease of logging on WRL and with CAT I think it would be a perfect combo of QRZ/HRD for me. Looking forward to it and loved working the NA QSO contest. As a hunter I managed to get 32 contacts in about 4 hours of fun. Thanks! Mike De W4MK
CAT Control is now implemented and available on the integrations page! Be sure to check it out!
2 posts were split to a new topic: CAT Control with Virtual Ports
@N0WRL Yes, I’ve been working with one of the devs to get this figured out ![]()

I am looking for some guidance on how to use the Cat Control Module. I realize that as of today (Nov 23, 2025) is in Beta. I mainly want Cat Control to control my IC 7300 by auto populating the frequency into the WRL Log, and when I click on spotting line to populate the log and at the same time change the radio frequency to the spotting frequency. I have a couple of questions:
-
The way I launch Cat Control is by running the program I downloaded for Cat Control and I have to select the Radio, Port and Baud every time. Is that the correct way? Is there is Button in the integrations or anywhere else to run it?
-
I have a little trouble getting Cat Control to run my IC 7300. I Disconnect the Cat Control and Reconnect several time until it does finally “connects and controls” the IC 7300 radio. Once it connects it stays on all day!
Again, I know is in Beta and I am very appreciative of it!
@KE8RRG Yes that is the correct way to run the cat control app. You can double click on the spots from the spotting tab inside your logbook and it should change the freq on your radio.
With that said, we have a major cat control update that we will be releasing in the next few days that should fix the disconnection issues you’re experiencing.
